What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have never been discovered.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Joyful Acres is a 14-acre forest and working nursery. Katie raises a growing number of native plants that have culinary, medicinal and spiritual value, and plants are available for sale periodically to the general public. Please watch our social media for seasonal plant specials, and contact us if you are interested in any specific plant purchases.

The world is not given by our fathers but borrowed from our children.
-Wendell Berry

Whether you're in the urban jungle or a natural one, if children are using an outdoor space there is always value in landscaping it to facilitate play. Joyful Acres is founded on the idea that "re-wilding" children's outdoor play spaces results in practical, emotional and spiritual value for both children and their families. Joyful Acres provides all levels of landscape design services from simple brainstorming sessions to full blown design and management consultation. Contact us if you're planning a project, or are just interested in natural playscapes!

Joyful Acres is the official-sounding name for Katie Kovach's adventures in sustainable forest farming, environmental education, and craft business.
